ABOUT US
The I in IO stands for Izzy, and the O stands for Oliver.
Long-standing family friends, we founded IO Design Studio in 2022 with a shared ambition to create an independent British Interior Design Studio that felt different - one built on genuine relationships, honest advice and beautifully crafted design.
Design has always been about more than creating beautiful spaces. For us, it's about helping people feel at home, giving businesses a place to thrive, and creating interiors with character, purpose and longevity. We believe every project should reflect the people behind it, rather than the latest trend.
Today, we work with homeowners, businesses and hospitality clients across the UK, creating interiors that are as practical as they are beautiful. As a small, independent studio, every project is personally led by us, allowing us to build lasting relationships with our clients and remain involved from the first conversation through to completion.
Alongside our Interior Design and Architectural Design services, we've developed our own collection of hand-painted wallpapers, furnishing fabrics and cushions. Every design is created in our Shropshire studio and proudly printed and manufactured in the UK, celebrating traditional craftsmanship and supporting independent British makers.
IZZY
Izzy grew up in Shropshire and has always had a passion for Art and Design, as well as working with people.
Izzy graduated from Loughborough University in 2015 with a First Class Honours degree in Textile Design before moving to London to work as an in-house Print Designer for lifestyle brand, Designers Guild.
Her background in textiles gave her a strong understanding of colour, pattern, and texture - skills that continue to influence her design approach today.
She later studied Interior Design at the KLC School of Design, broadening her experience across Interiors and Architecture. During Izzy’s time at KLC, she won the Porta Romana design prize.
After returning home to Shropshire with her husband to raise their two daughters, Izzy and Oliver joined forces and founded IO Design Studio in 2022.
Since then, the studio has evolved to offer Interior Design, Architectural Design, and most recently, an exclusive interior furnishings collection - each created with the client at the heart of the design process.
OLIVER
Oliver’s approach to design is shaped by a background in both art and architecture. With a degree in Fine Art from the University of Leeds and a background as an Architectural Designer working across residential and commercial projects, he brings a creative and technically grounded perspective to his work, with an interest in thoughtful, well-made spaces that work well and feel considered.
His architectural experience has given him a strong understanding of the technical and practical side of bringing a design together. Working closely with clients, consultants and contractors has shaped a collaborative and measured approach, balancing creative thinking with careful coordination and attention to detail.
His work at IO brings together architecture, interiors and a wider interest in art and design, with a focus on creating spaces that respond naturally to their setting and to the people who use them.
